Another year of OUTSTANDING GCSE results 2017-18!

Students, Staff and Governors at St Aidan’s Catholic Academy are celebrating an outstanding set of examination results this year at GCSE.

GCSE results at St Aidan’s Catholic Academy bucked the trend for boys nationally with 84% achieving an 9-4 grade in English and 73% achieving an 9-4 grade in Math’s.

Other key headlines include (provisional):

Percentage of students achieving a grade 4 or above in both English and Maths: 71%

Percentage of students achieving a grade 5 or above in both English and Maths: 60%

Progress 8: +0.10

Attainment 8: 51.00

% Ebacc Entry: 52%

EBacc APS: 4.53

98% of students remained in education or employment at the end of KS4.

At Advanced Level:

A*- A – 23%

A*- B – 41%

A*- C – 67%

Pass Rate – 95%

The data shows a growth in our A*-A percentage.

Overall average Grade – Academic subjects – C.

Applied General Business – 100% Merit and 33.3% Distinction
Engineering NQF – 100% Dist*
Sport Studies NQF – Merit

Retention Data – 72% of students complete their main study programme. 

Maths and English Resit Data – We have a very low number of students who need to resit.

Destinations 6th Form

The 2017/18 cohort saw:

67% of students applied for university with 95% of those achieving a place. 53% of these were first choice.

32% of successful applicants went on to study at Russell Group Universities.

33% of students decided to enter the world of work or take up an apprenticeship – all but one of these were successful in being placed.
