Another year of EXCELLENT GCSE results 2016-17!

Students, Staff and Governors at St Aidan’s Catholic Academy are celebrating an excellent sets of examination results this year at GCSE.

GCSE results at St Aidan’s Catholic Academy bucked the trend for boys nationally with 81% achieving an 9-4 grade in English and 78% achieving an 9-4 grade in Math’s.

Other key headlines include:

Percentage of students achieving a grade 4 or above in both English and Maths: 74%

Progress 8: -0.11 (unvalidated)

Attainment 8: 49.20 (unvalidated)

% Ebacc Entry: 17% (3% 2015-16)

% Achieving Standard Pass in  Ebacc: 10%

% Achieving Strong Pass in  Ebacc: 9%

97% of students remained in education or employment at the end of KS4.

The Academy has made an outstanding improvement in attainment this Academic Year and we would like to congratulate all of our students and thank their parents for all of their support this year.

At Advanced Level:

Overall Progress for Academic qualifications has a VA score of -0.2, with a confidence interval of -0.06 – -0.34.

A*- A – 12%

A*- B – 39%

A*- C – 65%

Pass Rate – 95%

The data shows a growth in our A*-B percentage.

Retention Data – 72% of students complete their main study programme.

Maths and English Resit Data – We have a very low number of students who need to resit.

Destinations

94% of our students stay in education or employment for at least 2 terms after they leave us.

The 2017 cohort saw:

78% of students applied for university with 98% of those achieving a place.

22% of students decided to enter the world of work or take up an apprenticeship – all but one of these were successful in being placed.
