On Wednesday 14th December, 9 students from Year 8 attended a language event at Newcastle University called Beat the Rat Race. The boys got to meet professionals who use languages in their jobs, they asked questions to a marketing recruiter from Newcastle University, a French translator and interpreter, who has worked with some footballers in the North East, and a Captain from the British Army who uses languages on a daily basis.

The students also took part in a poster competition, illustrating the importance of languages in the world today. We also had a taster session in Japanese.

The boys were an asset to the school, they expressed such confidence and learnt so much about careers in languages.

Well done boys! Thank you to Miss Pyke who made this happen!
